Red Hot Tuesday

There were many interpretations of this theme at our general meeting on Tuesday 11 February....

....a two-container arrangement using canna and fatsia leaves, linked with a calligraphic touch by a brilliant red plastic off-cut!

.........an allusion to fire, using anthuriums, Ohara-style

...........eucalyptus ficofolia (flowering gum) with dried kelp, as a reminder of sea-coolness

......there has been an abundance of sun-burnt foliage to inspire the imagination

.......an arrangement using chillies with some dried roadside dock

Events for March 2014

Our next general meeting on Tuesday March 11th will celebrate the 55th anniversary of the founding of the Melbourne Chapter!
One of our members, Trish Nicholls, will talk about her own Japanese garden and bring some material from it for our arrangements.
(The occasion will also be used to raise funds for the Florey Institute of Neurosciences.)

As usual we will start at 10.30, at 603 Toorak Road, Toorak (Toorak Uniting Church Hall). A great opportunity to share ideas and news.

Also in March, from Wednesday 26 until Sunday 30, the Melbourne International Flower and Garden Show will be held once again in the Exhibition Building and gardens. All schools within our chapter have been busy planning an exhibit for the Show. And on Saturday 29 March there will be an ikebana demonstration in the main hall for the public, members and friends. More details about this in the next bulletin.
